Summer Reading 2025

If you are looking to add a splash of color and a bit of wonder to your summer, we can help! The library has special programs, hands-on activities, and reading challenges for all ages. The fun starts June 2!

Reading matters no matter what your age! We have challenges for readers and listeners ages 0 to 109.  Look below to see which one is right for you. Sign up at the library anytime between now and July 25.

This simplified challenge is for parents of very young children. Reading to children is important, even before they can talk, grasp a page, or know to want a prize. All you do is track the number of books you read to your child and report to the library. Small rewards for all will follow.

For family readers, ages 6 and under, this challenge is a fun, easy way to keep young children listening to and looking at books. It will also be all about crayons and coloring. All you do is count the books anyone reads to your child. For every 12 books, your child will receive a small prize. The goal is to reach 72 books by July 25.

This is a challenge for those ages 6 to 9 who are still pretty new to reading on their own. The Great Berryville Rainbow Race is on! Can you race over the rainbow? You can if you read! For every 3 hours you read, you’ll earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 15 hours by July 25.

This is a challenge for those ages 9 to 12. The Great Berryville Rainbow Climb is on! Can you climb over the rainbow? You can if you read! For every 5 hours you read, you’ll earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 25 hours by July 25.

For teens including those just a few months shy of age 13 who are going to be 7th graders in the fall, we invite you to meet Bob and let him guide you on a creative journey full of books, art, and color this summer! All you have to do is track your hours spent reading. For every 5 hours you read, there will be a small reward. We hope you read at least 25 hours by July 25.

This challenge is for all ages 18 and up. Reading is important for your brain no matter what your age. Summer reading challenges add silly fun into the mix as you model great reading habits for all the young people in your life and in our community. This year we invite you to follow the rainbow to a place where there is always time for reading!

Free shows will be on stage at Berryville High School’s Performing Arts Center every Monday at 1 PM. Magical balloons, juggling, rap, opera, wildlife, and raptors are just some of the wonderful acts that will be coming to town. Here’s the full lineup:

There will be lots of hands-on opportunities for people of all ages to try something new.

  • Learn how to use a new tool at Tool Time!
  • Make a project to enter in the County Fair at Blue Ribbon Daze!
  • For those a bit younger, play at a Playground Storytime!
  • For those a bit older, meet new friends and make something new at a Stay & Make Meetup!

There’s lots going on all summer at the library. Here’s a look at our full June calendar. Here’s the calendar for July.

All of this is free! So, save some money and dive into free fun at the Berryville Library this summer. We hope to see you here real soon!
