Oceans of Possibilities & Pirates! For family readers, ages 6 and under, this challenge is a fun, easy way to keep young children engaged in reading by going on a treasure hunt.  All you do is count the books anyone reads to your child. For every 12 books, your child will receive a small prize at the library.  The goal is to reach 72 books by July 29.

Oceans of Possibilities: Master Diver Edition. This is a challenge for those ages 6 to 9 who are still pretty new to reading on their own. We need more trained SCUBA divers to explore the earth’s oceans. Can you earn your SCUBA stripes and become a Master Diver? All you have to do is read. For every three hours you read, you earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 15 hours by July 29.

Oceans of Possibilities: Divemaster Edition. This is a challenge for those ages 9 to 12. We need more trained SCUBA divers to explore the earth’s oceans. Can you earn your SCUBA stripes and become a Divemaster? All you have to do is read. For every five hours you read, you earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 25 hours by July 29.

Sea turtle swimming in trash

Oceans of Possibilities: Save our Oceans Edition. This challenge is for teens including those just a few months shy of age 13 who are going to be 7th graders in the fall. Our oceans are full of trash and need our help! This summer we will join the fight against plastic pollution, with your help. All you have to do is read. For every 5 hours you read, you will get to save one trinket from the trash. Every bit helps!

25,000-Hour Community Reading Challenge

Can we set a reading record three years in a row? The challenge is on!

25,000 hours is a daunting task. It is 5,000 more than we read last summer. 10,000 more than we read in June and July of 2020. But, if we can reach our goal, a very generous local family will match each hour read with $1 for the Building Fund.

That means $25,000 for our new library!

We need everyone to read, read, read!  Please sign up for a reading challenge today!

Summer Full of Programs

Special summer programs are back in full force, finally! It all kicks off with the 2nd Annual Storywalk on June 4 and ends with the Escape from the Bermuda Triangle Challenge for teens only on July 29. But there’s plenty of fun packed in between:

  • Tuesdays @ 4 PM will be all about tweens with programs every week in June and July.
  • Wednesdays are for youth makers of all ages. Come explore, discover, create, and invent with us every Wednesday @ 1 PM.

There’s power in partnership!

We couldn’t do this all without a lot of support from our partners. We thank all the local businesses who donate food coupons as well as these organizations that are helping us promote youth literacy and fun times in Berryville this summer!

We hope you swim on into the library real soon.

For now, let’s dive into some great books!
