Summer Reading 2022 Breaks All Records!

Posted on August 6, 2022

We are sending out a big THANK YOU to all our friends, near and far, who helped us read an amazing number of hours this summer. We found our Treasure Island!

A Shower of Gold

The final tally was 26,630 hours! This is more than we ever expected we could do in just eight weeks, and, thanks to our generous local family, we raised the $25,000 for the new library!!

For those participating here in town, we also raised $200 in spare change to help with real sea change. This money has been donated to the Ocean Conservancy for their work in fighting plastic pollution.

A Shower of Support

We also want to thank the Friends of the Berryville Library and these eight wonderful local businesses for sponsoring all the prizes we handed out to readers and program-goers this summer:

  • Casey’s
  • Daylight Donuts
  • Garners Drive-In
  • Berryville Pizza Hut
  • Shaved Ice Paradise Berryville
  • Sonic
  • Taco Bell
  • Vito’s Italian Restaurant

Please shower these businesses with support whenever you can!

This was our three-peat!

  • In 2020, we set a goal of reading 10,000 hours and read 15,343 to raise $15,343 for the Building Fund.
  • In 2021, we set a goal of 15,000 hours and read 19,955 to raise $19,955 for the Building Fund.
  • To read over 25,000 hours and raise $25,000 for the Building Fund was our stretch goal.

Thanks again to all who showered us with the support this summer to make this possible!

New building, here we come!

We have raised over $1.3 million for our new building in just the last 17 months. This means we have raised over 50% of our goal of $2.5 million!  We originally challenged ourselves to raise this money by 2025, but we may not have to wait that long. As soon as we reach this goal, we can break ground and start construction!!
