Reading matters no matter what your age! We have challenges for readers and listeners ages 0 to 109.  Look below to see which one is right for you. Sign up at the library anytime between now and July 26.

Adventure is in the Air!

For family readers, ages 6 and under, this challenge is styled after a balloon hunt and is a fun, easy way to keep young children engaged in reading, books, and words.  All you do is count the books anyone reads to your child. For every 12 books, your child will receive a small prize at the library.  The goal is to reach 84 books by the end of the summer. Click on the picture for a sneak peek.

Adventure is Out There: Let’s Go Hiking!

This is a challenge for those ages 6 to 9 who are still pretty new to reading on their own. This summer we want you to go on a hike on the Ozark Highlands Book Trail. The only way you can walk on this trail is by reading books. For every three hours you read, you’ll reach a milepost and earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 15 hours by July 26. Click on the picture for a sneak peek.

Adventure is Out There: Let’s Hike On!

This is a challenge for those ages 9 to 12. The only way you can walk on this trail is by reading books. For every five hours you read, you’ll reach a milepost and earn a prize. Your goal is to read at least 25 hours by July 26. Click on the picture for a sneak peek.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Teen Edition

For teens including those just a few months shy of age 13 who are going to be 7th graders in the fall, we invite you to go on a reading adventure of your own design. What, where, and how much you read is all your choice. But we hope you will read at least 25 hours. Click on the picture for a sneak peek.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Adult Edition

This challenge is for all ages 18 and up. Reading is important for your brain no matter what your age. Summer reading challenges add silly fun into the mix as you model great reading habits for all in our community. This year we invite you to go on a reading adventure of your own design with the hopes that you will read at least 30 hours. Click on the picture for a sneak peek.

Have fun today!

The summer will be jammed packed with free adventure for all.  We will have special summer adventures on stage, in the park, and with art. We’ll also have some of our regular weekly and monthly favorites like Pre-K Playtimes and Storytimes, books clubs for all ages, Take & Make adult craft program, games nights, movie nights, and more.

Kick off a summer of adventure with us!

Join us on Monday, June 3, for some high-flying adventure, or at least an up-close look at something that can take you real high! Thanks to Clay Maxey Berryville, we will kick off a summer full of adventure with a hot air balloon presentation and stand-up at the City Bobcat Youth Soccer Complex. You’ll learn all about what it takes to fly a hot air balloon and see just how big that basket is! The program will start promptly at 8:30 AM. (Hot air balloons don’t like the heat or the wind of the day!)

Want more adventure?

Come into the library and pick up the Friends of the Berryville Library’s Adventure Guide.  Lots of great ideas for adventure reads and adventures you can have close to home. Best thing? You can win some of these local adventures by buying a ticket for the Friends’ Make It A Summer of Adventure Raffle Fundraiser. Tickets are on sale from now until June 8 at the library, Shelter Insurance Tonya Williams Agency in Berryville, and It’s A Mystery Bookstore on the Berryville Square.

There’s lots going on at the Berryville Library this summer. We hope to see you here real soon!
